3. Tootsie
In Tootsie, out of work actor Michael Dorsey (Dustin Hoffman) applies for a job as “Dorothy Michaels” on a popular soap opera, dressing in drag for his audition. Derek soon learns of the plot, and works to beat the fashion goons at their own game.
5. Best in Show
This independent film from director Christopher Guest is shot as a mockumentary, with much of the dialogue between characters in the film being improvised on the fly. A stellar cast of dog owners and trainers including Jane Lynch, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Parker Posey keeps the punches flying, as the dogs vie for the title of top dog. The hilarious film treks their unique journeys to the show, and follows them after their return home.
